Hey Around is a free random video chat for adults, built and run in India. You're matched with someone new for a live chat that starts with voices only, and you see each other's faces only if both of you choose to. It works in the browser on Android phones, iPhones and computers, with no app to install.
Made for chatting in India
- Easy on mobile data. Every chat starts with voices, which use much less data than video. Faces use more, and they're only on when you both want them.
- Talk in your language. The buttons are in English, but you talk with your voice, so Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Marathi or anything else you both speak works. There's also an introduction in Hindi.
- Icebreakers that feel familiar. You both see the same question on a note between you, like "Chai or coffee, and from where?" or "Metro, auto or bike?"
- No app to install. Open heyaround.in in your phone's browser. There's nothing to download or update, and nothing taking up space on your phone.
Your face, your choice
Your camera stays off when a chat starts. Either of you can tap Show my face, but video turns on only once both of you have asked, and either of you can turn it off again for both.
When faces are on, the other person's video stays blurred until your browser has checked it for nudity. The check runs on your own phone or computer, so the other person can't switch it off. Nobody records or stores your voice or video.
Safety under Indian law
Hey Around follows India's Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. In practice, that means:
- A Grievance Officer you can write to. Complaints are acknowledged within 24 hours with a reference number, and resolved within 7 days. See Contact and grievances.
- Fast action on the worst complaints. A complaint that someone showed you nude or in a sexual act, or impersonated you, including with morphed images, is acted on within 2 hours.
- Adults only. You enter your date of birth once when you sign up, and people under 18 can't chat.
- Reports that stick. Reporting ends the chat, and you won't be matched with that person again. Three reports from different people within 24 hours suspend an account for 7 days, and some violations are crimes that Hey Around reports to the police, as Indian law requires.

Is Hey Around an Indian website?
Yes. Hey Around is run by Anant Pathak in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, and it follows Indian law.
Can I choose to talk only to women or only to men?
No. Hey Around has no gender filter. Matching doesn't use gender, and nobody else sees yours.
Will the other person know who I am?
Not unless you tell them. Hey Around never shows your name, email or gender to the person you're talking to, and they only see your face if you both choose to show it.
